  1. Nationality:

  1. The candidate must be a citizen of India,
  2. A subject of Nepal or a person from Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

2. Age & Gender:

  1. Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than July 2, 2002, and not later than July 1, 2005, are eligible.
  2. The candidates should keep note that the only date of birth as recorded in the Secondary School Examination Certificate available will be accepted by the Commission.
  3. These documents need to be submitted after the declaration of the result.
  4. The candidates need to know that once the date of birth is entered in the records of the commission, no changes will be allowed to make.
  5. The candidates need to be careful in filling the date of birth in their respective assigned columns in the online application form. In case if there are any issues or errors in the date of birth, legal action will be taken against the applicants.
  6. There will be no addition or deletion of the date of birth after it is entered.
  7. Candidates should note that they cannot marry until the completion of the training period.

3. Educational Qualification: The educational qualification specified by the officials are listed below:

  1. For National Defence Academy: The candidate should have passed the 10+2 board exams from a recognized board or University.
  2. For Naval Academy: The candidate should have cleared Class 12 board examination in 10+2 pattern or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board.
  3. The candidates who are appearing for class 11 are not eligible for this test.
  4. Those candidates who have yet to qualify in their Class 12th or equivalent exams will be allowed to give the UPSC exam should note that this is only a special concession given to them. Such candidates need to submit proof of passing the class 12th or equivalent examination by the prescribed date.
  5. Candidates debarred from the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of commission in Defence Services will not be eligible for the examination.
  6. The candidates must be physically fit for admission to National Defence Academy. Also, the candidates who have resigned or withdrawn from any training sessions or activities of the Armed Forces are not eligible for the exam.

NDA Application Form 2021: How To Apply For NDA 2021?

The candidates are advised to follow the given procedure to apply for the NDA 2021 exam-

NDA Application Form: Part 1

In Part 1, candidates need to fill up their personal details, choose branch preference, verify details and the NDA registration ID will be generated.

1st Step: Visit the official website of UPSC: upsconline.nic.in.


3rd Step: Now, click on “Click Here for PART I” for National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (II). Read the instructions carefully and click on “Yes”.

4th Step: In Page 1, enter your personal details as mentioned below:

  1. Name – Candidates need to enter the name as per the matriculation/secondary examination certificate (Class 10th or Class 12th Result card).
  2. Gender – Select Gender male or female.
  3. Date of Birth – The date of birth should be entered in dd/mm/yyyy format.
  4. Father’s Name and Mother’s Name – Do not use prefixes such as Shri or Dr, etc.
  5. Nationality – Select the Nationality from the drop-down menu.
  6. Martial Status – Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to fill the NDA Application Form.
  7. Community – Select category SC/ST/OBC/General from the drop-down menu.
  8. Fee Remission – Fee exemption is admissible for SC, ST sons of JCOs/NCOs/Ors.
  9. Educational Qualification – Applicants need to select their educational qualification – if passed Class 12/HSC or appearing for the same.
  10. Address and Email ID – Please enter the correct address and mobile number. All the communications will be done through the information that you have filled in the NDA Application form. Along with the address and email ID, candidates also need to provide the Contact Number.

5th Step: Click on “Continue”.

6th Step: In Page 2, candidates need to choose their preferences out of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy as mentioned below:

  1. Preferences have to be made by selecting the numbers from 1 to 4.
  2. Mark ‘0’ if you do not want to give any preference.
  3. Those who are from Sanik/Military School or Son of JCO/NCO/Other Rank Officer have to enter details.

7th Step: In Page 3, candidates need to verify the details that is been entered in the NDA Application Form. Once you have pressed the “I Agree” button, no more changes can be made.

8th Step: In Page 4, candidates can generate their Registration ID on this page. Note down registration number, name, father’s name, DOB, email ID, etc. An email will also be sent to the candidate’s email ID.

If you want to pay the application fee through offline mode then you need to take the printout of Pay-in-slip.

NDA Application Form: Part 2

The Part 2 application process is divided into 3 stages as given below:

  1. Fee Payment
  2. Selection of examination centre
  3. Uploading of Photograph and Signature

1. Fee Payment – The NDA Application Fee can be paid both online as well as offline. The fee for the General and OBC categories is Rs 100. SC and ST candidates do not have to pay any application fee.

Mode of Payment – The payment of the NDA Application Fee can be made through any branch of SBI Bank. In offline payment, candidates need to take the printout of the pay-in-slip during part-II registration and deposit the fee. Candidates can also pay the NDA Application fee through net banking.

  1. Candidates should note that payment of the application fee should be made only through prescribed modes.
  2. The application fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  3. Candidates whose payment details are not received from the bank, their application form will be rejected.

2. Selection of Examination Centre – Candidates need to select the exam centre as per their choices.

3. Uploading of Photograph and Signature – The scanned images should be in JPG format. The file size should not exceed 40 KB and must not be less than 3 KB for the photograph while 1 KB for the Signature.

There is no need to send the hard copy of the NDA Application form to the UPSC Authorities.

How To Withdraw NDA Application Form 2021?

Note the following points related to NDA 2021 application form withdrawal:

  1. Visit the official website of UPSC
  2. Click the ‘Apply Online’ link on the home page.
  3. Candidates are redirected to the page that contains the application withdrawal link.
  4. Enter the registration ID.
  5. Enter name, gender, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, mobile number, email ID.
  6. Select either ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ from the drop-down.
  7. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  8. The withdrawal facility is available for those candidates who do not want to appear in the exam.
  9. Candidates are advised to provide the details of the registered application as well as the registration ID.
  10. There is no facility to withdraw the application form with incomplete details.
  11. Separate OTPs will be sent to candidates’ registered mobile numbers and email IDs.
  12. Request for withdrawal will only be processed after validating the OTP.
  13. After the request is accepted for online withdrawal of the application, candidates must print the receipt.
  14. Once the application has been withdrawn, it cannot be revived.
  15. On successful completion of the withdrawal of the application, an auto-generated email and SMS will be sent to the candidate’s registered email id and mobile.
